]]> By: austin http://www.awestyproductions.com/tutorials/flash-tutorials/cool-glow-effect-in-flash/#comment-4919 austin Wed, 02 May 2007 21:00:38 +0000 http://www.awestyproductions.com/tutorials/flash-tutorials/cool-glow-effect-in-flash/#comment-4919 dont buy flash basic! for about 100 $ more you get 3x the program! well, bummer for you :( :( :(. lucky for you, i used to use flash mx! it waaay old and didn't have filters...but now i have flash 8 so i never use this anymore...anyway; to make a glowish thingy without filters, here is what you do: draw the desired object or type the text (if its text then press ctrl+B until the text is just a shape). then you need to duplicate that shape to a lower layer, copy it and then make a new layer below it and press ctrl+shift+V to paste in place. change its color to the color of your glow and you can play with the alpha if you want. then lock and hide the above layer and select the glow layer, then go to Modify > Shape > soften fill edges play with the settings a bit and then press ok.
