Nintendo Wii

Nintendo’s latest creation, the ‘wii’, is launched in Australia December 7th, which is just short of Japan, December 2nd, and America. It will only cost $399.95, which is alot less the the other consoles (the PS3 and the xBox 360) and comes with comes with Wii sports which contains a bunch of sports games like tennis, golf, boxing, baseball and bowling.

As part of a global launch period, Wii will arrive in Australia on December 7th. Wii will be sold as an affordable, mass-consumer product at an SRP of just $399.95. The price includes one wireless Wii Remote controller, one Nunchukâ„¢ controller and the groundbreaking collection of five different Wii Sports games on one disc, which anyone can play using simple movements, experienced or not.

The Wii is white in color and can stand vetically or horizontally. It is about 8.5 inches long, 5 inches wide and no more than 2 inches thick (roughly the size of 3 DVD cases stacked on top of each other).

The Wii is backwards compatable, so you can play all your gamecube favourites on it. It also has ports for the controllers and slots for the memory cards.

A single self-loading media bay plays single- or double-layered 12-cm optical discs for the Wii console.
The Wii has four ports for the new wii controllers and a bay for the SD memory card.

The new design and features of the remote is probably one of the main attractions for the wii. The controll is wireless, so it is easy to move around. It has motion sensing technology to make game play alot more fun.
In a tenis game, the remote would be your raquet to serve, hit and everything else. In a driving game it would be your steering wheel, in a first person shooter it would be your weapon.
With blue-tooth technology the wii contoller can send actions back to the console from up to 30 feet away. It includes speakers, a rumble feature and an expansion port for other things like the nunchuck controll.

Contoured to perfectly fit a player’s hand, the Nunchuk controller builds on the simplicity of the Wii Remote controller and goes an extra step to meet the needs of gamers. The Nunchuk controller connects to the Wii Remote controller at its expansion port and is used in conjunction with the Wii Remote controller.

The Nunchuk controller contains the same motion-sensing technology enabled in the Wii Remote controller but also includes an analog stick to assist in character movement. In several games, players will use the analog stick of the Nunchuk controller to move their characters and the Wii Remote controller to perform a specific action, whether that’s throwing a pass in football or aiming a ranged weapon in an action game.

Along with the analog stick, the motion-sensing Nunchuk controller also contains two buttons positioned for quick access. Because the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers are only relatively dependent on each other, players are free to hold them in whichever hand is most comfortable. The ambidextrous nature of the Wii controllers grants accessibility seldom seen in game controllers.

Hi everyone.
With the launch of the Nintendo Wii just around the corner, will you purchase one?
If so, what are you most looking forward to about the system?
